Vodafone: HTC Magic out — “Several new Android devices” in

Straight from the Horse’s mouth, this one. On Vodafone AU’s Facebook Page they have left a comment stating that the HTC Magic is indeed an “End of life” device and is being phased out, with “Several new Android devices” on the way in. This coincides nicely with a HTC Media Event in Sydney next week, HTC Legend anyone?

It should also see the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S & Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro (longest device name ever?), as we reported not all that long ago.

I am really hoping that the Legend also comes to 3 along with Vodafone. Would people say the chances are good if it comes to one it will to the other?

  It may come to both, but Vodafone are the only ones who have said anything about it.

    Thanks, hoping that it does come to both VHA brands. Nearly getting in desperate need of a new handset and not looking at changing carriers, unfortunately cannot afford an outright purchase either. On 3 that is a problem when I only really want an HTC Android phone at the moment, even an announcement of some sort would be great.

    I have friends & contacts in Vodafone that contacted me about the Legend, it’s a 3 month exclusive on Vodafone. They can price it how they want, but free on the $49/mo plan is pretty reasonable.

    Oh right, well I was told by them they weren’t going to get Android smartphones when I asked them AGES ago about the HTC Hero. So who knows.

    Yeh i went in about a week before i found out about the X10 being released on Virgin and spoke to the manager of my local Virgin store who assured me they would not be getting any android phones because they didn’t have the ability to support them… BABBOOMM 5 days later X10!

I recently visited VF store to check out the HTC Magic. The sales person informed me that a rep had not long been around with the HTC Legend. Fuelling the rumours?

  Ooo excellent news. We know the legend is coming, so its no longer rumour. It’s now just the time and date, which should be revealed at the HTC Media Event

it’s official – HTC Legend will be released free on the $49 cap on Vodafone as of 3rd June – no dates for 3 yet…

personally I think that’s a bit steep considering the specs on that phone – they may end up dropping the price, like Optus did with their new Motorolas – but then again, the even higher pricing on the X10 has set a benchmark they can use to help justify it

hopefully this doesn’t mean the i9000 will be even more expensive!
