Honeycomb will run on Phones as well, not just Tablets

You no longer have to worry about whether or not Honeycomb will make its way to Android Phones in the future, it will. In an exclusive interview with Engadget, Director of User Experience, Matias Duarte, said that Honeycomb is able to be scaled down to smaller devices such as phones, yay!

What you see in Honeycomb is definitely the direction for Android

In the interview (which you can consume after the break) Matias goes on to say that almost every aspect of Android has been looked at to ensure it is the best it can possibly be, and where it wasn’t, they completely remade it. Examples of this that he mentioned are text input as well as the use (and non-use) of hardware buttons, as these can now be displayed on-screen. If you’ve got some spare time on your hands, I highly recommend the video.

Hah, I knew honeycomb would make its way to phones! A post a while back had people claiming that Honeycomb would be the tablet-only OS and Ice Cream (or whatever the next OS is) would be for phones.

I think the whole idea is to have a seamless transition from Android phones to Android tablets. It wouldn’t make sense for Android to have to drastically different OS on phones and tablets. Would be counter productive to them and to the user.
