Looks like ASUS is doing it again, they`ve been consistently fast with updates to all their devices and have now started rolling out Firmware update v.22.214.171.124 to the original Transformer(TF101), starting with units in Taiwan they then expect to continue the rollout to other regions, no date yet for when we`ll see it here in Australia but hopefully it`ll be soon.
Dear valued ASUS fans,
ASUS prides itself on delivering the best products to end-users, which means that we not only aim to deliver innovative products but also to continue improving the out of box experience throughout their life cycle with regular firmware updates.
Many of our Eee Pad Transformer TF101 users have waited patiently for the promised Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update and we are delighted to announce that the first wave of FOTA updates for TF101 firmware v.126.96.36.199 started today in Taiwan. The update will FOTA in other regions soon after.
Although we will announce several new innovations at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week, we take great pride in delivering on-going enhancements and support for products that are well into their life cycle.
Thank you once again for your valued support!
They have noted on the campuslife blog that the update should start hitting the US today. ASUS has also listed the features that will be included in the update, for those not familiar with the features from Ice Cream Sandwich here you go :
- Create folders in the Home Screen
- Quick launch of the camera from lock screen
- Additional screen capture method
- Additional browser functions
- Special camera effects and photo editing
- Swipe to close tasks or notifications
- Font size modification
- Other minor user interface changes
At this stage I can`t think of a reason why not to get an ASUS tablet, they’ve been excellent with updates, their build quality seems pretty nice and their warranty service seems pretty good from what i’ve heard so far. Be sure to let us know in the comments if you’ve received your update.
