Daily App Sales Roundup – 16-08-2012

Today we can flash back to the 90’s because RealNetworks has released RealPlayer for Android. The player can open video, audio and picture files and is apparently optimised for high res-graphics whatever that means. It does have a graphic equalizer built in which is a bit of a plus but the UI doesn’t look fantastic but as with all these new apps, at least it’s out there and running, give them time to get the bugs worked out and the UI could clean up nicely. Available for Android 2.1 and up it’s a 24MB Download and free to download, so if you have any of those RMVB files hanging around you’ve been just dying to play on your Android device check it out in the Google Play Store.

For a game today, why not check out Flow Free, it’s a logic puzzle with a simple aim, join the two coloured dots whilst filling in each square on the board, sounds simple right? It is but the execution is darned hard but plus side is it will keep niggling at you to want to complete it. It’s a free game but ad supported, check it out in the Google Play Store and see what you think.

The Humble Bundle for Android 3 is now on as well. They’re offering 5 games : Fieldrunners, BIT.TRIP BEAT, SpaceChem and Uplink as with all Humble Bundles though you have to pay above the average price which at the moment stands at $6.04 to get the fifth game which is Spirits, as a bonus if you pay the above average price you get these games on Windows, Mac and Linux and the official soundtrack for each game. You’re given the choice ofsupporting charity either the Childs Play Charity or the Electronic Frontier Foundation both worthy causes or you can support the Devs who make the games, so head on over to the Humble Bundle Website and check it out .

It’s the game that combines lasers with classic strategy. Players alternate turns moving Egyptian-themed pieces having two, one or no mirrored surfaces. All four types of pieces (pharaoh, anubis, pyramid and scarab) can either move one square forward, back, left, right, or diagonal, or stay in the same square and rotate by a quarter twist. Each turn ends by firing the real laser diode built into each player’s Sphinx piece. The laser beam bounces from mirror to mirror; if the beam strikes a non-mirrored surface on any piece, it is immediately removed from play. The ultimate goal is to illuminate your opponent’s pharaoh, while shielding yours from harm!

I had the beta version of RealPlayer installed on the SD card in my HTC Desire. It worked well until the latest update which installed over 18MB in phone memory and caused low memory warnings. Uninstalled.
