Two years after Samsung said that they’d launch the projector-toting Galaxy Beam here in Australia, it’s finally available through Dick Smith stores (and online). Dick Smith are asking for $585 for the 1GHz Dual-Core, Android 2.3, and of course, 15 lumens projector device, which can apparently display a 50-inch image.

The Galaxy Beam packs a 2000mAh battery to power that projector that sits at the top of the 12.5mm thick device. There’s also a 4-inch 480×800 AMOLED display to view content if the projector isn’t your kinda thing — then again, you’ll only be buying the device just for the projector.

Other specs include quad-band HSPA, 5MP rear camera and 1MP front camera, 8GB internal storage, and 768MB RAM. Will you be buying one?

Had my eye on this for ages. Just want to see one in the flesh and be convinced that when it breaks it won’t cost too much to fix.

Went down to Dick Smith in Swanston St and they claim they haven’t got them.
