Daily App Sales Roundup – 18-11-12

Google has a startup team inside their organisation called Niantic labs and they have released an Alternate Reality game called Ingress. So far it’s available by invite only which you can request here.

The game aims to be something which encourages players to get out in the real world to collect virtual energy or units of ‘XM’ which you pick up by travelling on paths laid out in the game. You then spend the energy collected at portals which can be places such as libraries, art installations and other publicly accessible places.

There are two teams in the game, you either play as the ‘Enlightened’ who embrace the power or the ‘Resistance’ who fight the power, it’s aimed to be open to anyone in the world(via invite only at this stage) and with more players in each location resources will become more and more scarce. The game sounds as though it would integrate perfectly with Google Glass but that’s something we’ll have to wait and see. I’ve requested an invite but have yet to hear back, let us know in the comments if you’ve received an invite.

Found a good deal on an app you’d like to share? Are you an Australian developer with an app you would like reviewed? Or have you found a most expensive app on the Play Store? Let me know! You can tweet me or email me.

I’ve been playing Ingress in Australia, but it leaves a lot to be desired unless you’re in Sydney (city).
Right now, there’s still only a few people (like myself) and Googlers.

Ingress is also US only, even after you get the invite.
