But after the update she’s asking “Why have my Texts changed colour?” It worried her. I can see why HTC and Samsung work so hard to make their updates NOT change the phones too much. It freaks out the common peoples.

They got two completely different audiences to please. The techfans, who want the changes and the more the better. And the Mums, who are afraid of the phones in the first place and get stressed if anything unexpected happens.

It just seems a little too convenient to pass off as a placebo. I have also used this method previously, on Vodafone’s HTC Legend and it worked. It’s worth a try, surely?
