ASUS announces the MeMO Pad HD 7 for Australia for $199

Asus Memo Pad 7
Announced at Computex back in June, Asus has just announced the MeMO Pad HD 7 will be available in Australia for $199 from authorised ASUS retailers and channel resellers.

Available in blue, white, pink, green and grey the MeMO Pad HD 7 is a compact little tablet that in some colours you just won’t be able to lose very easily. Asus has packed in some decent specs for the $199 price tag :

  • 7″ HD 1280 x 800 IPS display
  • 1.2GHz Quad-Core CPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB On-board storage with mircroSD Card slot (up to 32GB)
  • WLAN802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth V4.0, GPS
  • 5-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel front camera
  • Stereo speakers with SonicMaster technology
  • Android 4.2
  • Li-polymer Battery with up to 10 hours battery life
  • 120.6 x 196.8 x 10.8mm @ 302Grams

The MeMO Pad HD 7 comes with Buddy Buzz – a social Networking app and SuperNote – a memo taking App, which allows you to capture handwritten notes as well as append photos, video or voice to capture multimedia notes. For your photos, the tablet comes with Asus Studio to edit, sort and create photos and Asus Story to create ‘photo stories’ in albums.

Two accessories for the MeMO Pad HD 7 have been announced the TransCover and the Persona Cover. The TransCover comes with a microfibre interior and folds into a stand to allow for easy viewing of videos on the tablet. The Transcover will be available in blue, pink, white and black. The Persona Cover is a snug-fit case designed to protect the tablet from everyday bumps and scrapes, it will be available in black, pink and green.

With a brand new Asus built 7″ Nexus 7 about to launch in Australia, Asus has a pretty hard sell with this line of tablets. It will be interesting to see where the pricing lines up when official pricing is announced.

Will you buy a MeMO Pad HD 7?

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress and IFA.

Good tablet! It’s cheaper than Nexus 7 2013 (which will probs be $279 for 16gb) and has a micro-sd card slot. Good for those who want to spend less than 200.
