Sony Xperia Z1 to go on-sale at Sony Centre by September 30th for $779 – pre-orders open now

Xperia Z1
The Sony Xperia Z1, announced just last week at IFA in Germany, claims to be ‘The world’s best camera in a waterproof smartphone’. With a bold claim like that Sony is really going after the mobile photography market in a big way, but if you don’t want to sign up to a contract with a carrier to get one, then you’ll need to check out the official Sony store to get one for the time being.

Thanks to a tip from Irwin – who long time readers should remember – we’ve learned that the Sony Xperia Z1 will be in-store at the Sony Centre Melbourne by September 30th, where it will be selling for $779 outright.

The Sony Australia website has also launched their Xperia Z1 mini-site and begun taking pre-registrations to notify you when the Xperia Z1 is available to buy.

With an IP 55/58 rating, the Xperia Z1 is quite the lifeproof device, and paired with the 20.7MP Exmor RS image sensor on-board behind the G Lens, Sony is offering a camera that could be truly award winning. If you’re interested in going in-store to one of the Sony Centre retail stores dotted around the country, you can head over to the SonyCentre website to check out where you can find them.
