Visit Marysville Victoria – a new app leading the way for local tourism

Marysville

Historic Victorian town Marysville has had a tough time over the last few years with the 2009 bush fires, but has bounced back better than ever. The picturesque town is nestled in the hills of the Great Dividing Range, about an hour and a half drive from Melbourne through Healesville.

They have recently released the app Visit Marysville Victoria that highlights the beauty of the town and surrounding forests. The app is one of the best of its kind, and features an overview of the area, getting there – either directly or taking a more scenic route through other towns with maps included, and upcoming events such as the bi-weekly Marysville Community Market.

Walking trails are another great feature, there are 14 included in the app, that conveniently show the approximate time to walk right upfront, and once you click on a trail that takes your fancy it further shows the location (with map), difficulty, facilities, if there are any restrictions – such as no bikes or no horses and directions.

There is also a Gallery of great photos of the area that you can add your own photos easily to, and a planner with suggested itineraries for day trips or a weekend stopover that has suggestions of where to go and what to do. If any activity in the app spikes your interest, you can add these to My Favourites or Suggested Itineraries in the Plan section.

This app really makes Marysville and the surrounding region shine. It is packed full of beautiful images of the area, is easy to read and has plenty of information and suggestions for a day trip or three. This is a great app if you live in Melbourne and love to explore the countryside.

What do you think? Does this app make you want to pack the car and head out to the country? Let us know in the comments!
