Bauhn 8-inch Aldi Tablet 8th Dec
Next Wednesday the 4th of December, Aldi will begin selling yet another Bauhn branded 8″ Tablet for $129, this time without the 3G radios that the last model included.

The entry level tablet which includes a mini-HDMI port out for connecting to TVs is a great idea for taking away on a holiday and connecting to TVs to watch movies on while you’re away, or for letting kids watch movies on, when you’re driving. While it’s a fairly low end device it’s pretty good value with a microSD card slot included to add additional memory to the 16GB on-board storage.

Bauhn AT-HK8 Specifications:

  • 8″ 1024×768 resolution Digital LCD Screen
  • 1.5GHz Dual Core Amlogic AML8726-MxS Cortex-A9 SoC
  • 1GB DDR3 RAM
  • 16GB On-Board Storage with MicroSD Card slot
  • 2MP Rear Camera with 0.3MP Front-Facing Camera
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, G-Sensor, Touch Sensor
  • Built-in microphone
  • 8Ω 1W x 1C Internal Speaker
  • Android 4.1(JellyBean)
  • 3000mAh Battery

There doesn’t appear to be any accessories pack going on-sale with this latest Bauhn tablet, but you can get a couple of complimentary products such as a 32GB microSD card for $25 or external Bluetooth speaker for $29.99 which also go on-sale next Wednesday.

As with all Aldi products such as this, the Bauhn tablet will come with a 60 Day Money Back Guarantee and is covered by a 1 Year Warranty. If you’re interested in this 8″ tablet, you’ll want to get along to an Aldi store near you.

i saw the flyer too… the 4:3 aspect screen is appealing for webmail checks and facebook updates while on holiday… does anyone have any hands on experience with this particular unit? I’m not expecting much for $129 but I don’t want a total “dud” :^)

I picked one up yesterday. So far it seems so so… the screen is quite grainy but the Apps are all running ok.
I’ll get more than $129 wroth of usage out of it i reckon!

thanks. Yeah I got one also and it’s fine for what I need :^)
(the 2MP camera is beyond useless, but I doubt anyone buying this would be expecting better :^)

I purchased one. Seems good . Fault – photos on File Manager are in numerical order. In Gallery They are listed and play in order from highest to lowest number. Can this be changed to lowest to highest as in File Manager – Max

I got one for Christmas because I am going into high school and it seems to be working fine. But whenever I charged it it took a very long time . It took 3 and a half hours once. When I charge it and it is a hundred percent it just goes down automatically without me using it and I don’t know why. I have tried closing all the apps and it still goes down. My mum said it goes down because it is still working and doing stuff as your not using it. Other than that it is very good for the money that we paid for. You can buy cases from aldi in this variety pack that comes out every three months but the case was black and I’m a girl so I wanted something with colour, so I went on ebay and they are selling them for $15.

Purchased 2 for my kids. Very disapointed. Poor quality, slow. Would not buy again.

Purchased 3 of these BAUHN tablets from ALDI at Xmas 2013. One overheated and died in a few days. Got a refund from ALDI and bought my high school son a Samsung Tab instead (go and pay for a quality item if you need it for school).

Its now March 2014 and the other 2 tablets have been hit and miss. Both have been freezing up and require resetting often since new. They both have bulges around an inch under the camera lens. It gets extremely hot there. When I opened it to check what was under it I discovered thats where the CPU lives. Its an Amlogic AML8726-MXS chip and it gets HOT!!! There are no cooling fins on it and there are no air vents in the rear cover there to dispel the heat. ITS A POOR DESIGN!!! This is the reason why they keep freezing and you need to hold both side buttons for 10 seconds to reset the tablet again.

Placing an ice block behind the rear cover helps cool it down so you can at least get 5-10 minutes worth of playing the tablet, but without it the tablets just freeze after not much use. One has problems even starting up when its hot and only works when you let it cool stone cold and then start it up.

Not happy with them. They are a waste of money.
