HTC One Mini 2 breaks cover in Grey, Silver and Gold

HTC
With the release of the HTC One (M8), we’ve been waiting for information on the inevitable release of the Mini and Max versions. Now @EvLeaks has shown off the Mini – tipped previously to be called the HTC One Mini 2 – in Gunmetal Grey, Glacial Silver, and Amber Gold.

Missing, is from the picture is the distinctive secondary ‘Duo’ camera, that adorned the back of the HTC One (M8), it will instead feature a single 13MP rear camera (OIS is not mentioned) with a 5MP front-facing ‘selfie’ camera.

Further specs on the HTC One Mini 2, also supplied by @EvLeaks include a 1.4GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM, a 4.5″ 720p display,16GB of on-board storage with a microSD card slot. There will be the usual Wifi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and BlueTooth 4.0. Software wise, like the larger M8, the Mini 2 will feature Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) with Sense 6.0 and on-screen buttons.

The HTC One Mini 2 actually looks fairly decent. The 13MP camera may actually end up being a decent replacement for the Duo Camera, even without the Ufocus effects included. With all these ‘mini’ phones, the price is of course going to be the main selling point with the lower end specs, we await an official announcement with interest.

If you’re looking for a ‘smaller’ phone, will the HTC One Mini 2 capture your hard earned dollars?

I would have waited for this phone, I love HTC. But those specs don’t compete with my new Z1c, no buyers remorse here!

4.5″ screen is considered ‘mini’ now? Jeez….

Oh no better sell my Z1 Compact for one of these. Will companies other than Sony start making enticing phones in the 4 – 4.5″ range any time soon?

Considering that this phone will cost more then an N5 outright. I would want better specs than that. Even just 2GB RAM would be nice.

You can normally get these phones for between $400 – 500 delivered. However, considering the Z1 compact is $550 outright from Telstra with 2 year warranty their pricing is to dear. Should be closer to Moto G pricing.

Personally I don’t think people considering this size device would even consider a 5″ Nexus 5.
