Email
Google has today continued their path of releasing apps from their Google Experience phones to Google Play, this time liberating the Email app.

While GMail is my be all and end all, it’s not everyones and the ability to connect to POP3 or IMAP email servers is one that a number of people encounter on a daily basis. The app has largely been derided as fairly clunky, but this may be a good sign that we could see some updates coming for it soon, as we saw with the camera and keyboard apps once liberated.

Availability is fairly scarce at the moment, out of a long list of current Android 4.4 devices, many Nexus phones and tablets, only the my Nexus 5 showing as compatible. Indeed Google notes in the description for the app that the HTC One M7 and Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play editions are unable to receive the update :
Google Email App Some

Full description for the app includes :

The Email app is pre-installed on Nexus and select Google Play edition devices.
The Email app lets you read and manage email from different accounts all in one place. Got Hotmail? Yahoo Mail? Outlook?
No problem—the Email app brings it all together, with the same great experience you get in Gmail.

The Email app also supports:
● IMAP, POP3 and Exchange accounts
● Ability to select which folders to sync
● Quick responses
● Automatically downloading attachments via Wi-Fi

HTC One m7 and Samsung Galaxy S4 Play devices are unable to receive this update.

Head on over to Google Play and update your phone and let us know if any of your devices are compatible with the Email app.

Its a pile of junk anyway. Especially for those with corporate email accounts with pins, you need to lock the entire device and not just the application Nine is so much better.
