Asus to release their Android Wear watch at IFA next month

The IFA tradeshow in Germany next month is shaping up to be a good one, with rumours of new handsets and more from the likes of Samsung and Sony heating up, there’s a new rumour circulating that Asus is about to announce their entry into the Android Wear market.

Rumoured to be priced at a much lower price than existing Android Wear watches, Asus is apparently aiming at the $99-$150 price range when it launches, and according to Asus CEO, Jerry Shen, who announced that the watch would debut IFA in Berlin at an investors’ conference on Tuesday.

An Asus made Android Wear watch would bring the total number of devices on offer to four, with a premium, mid-range and if the pricing rumours are to be believed a low-end model. Price has been somewhat of a barrier for people and Shen told investors the lower price tag would not contribute to revenue for Asus initially :

We’re dreaming big about the future of wearable devices, but the dream will not come true this year or in the first half of next year because the market demand has not picked up.

Though it does seem that even though they have yet to release a first smartwatch, they are planning a second generation.

IFA is shaping up to be awesome, stay tuned.
