The classic Lucas Arts noir adventure game Grim Fandango has arrived in Google Play just in time for a weekend of retro gaming. The title has been remastered by gaming developers Double Fine Productions, the team behind such great games as Broken Age and The Cave, and released under the title Grim Fandango Remastered.
The game isn’t cheap, it’s priced at $12.77 but it’s an all inclusive title, with no in-app purchases (IAP). The game sees you take on the role of Manny Calavera, a travel agent at the Department of Death. The aim of the game is to ‘save Mercedes “Meche” Colomar, a newly arrived but virtuous soul, during her long journey’ through the Land of the Dead.
Grim Fandango is a much loved game title, which has seen a complete overhaul, it includes :
- Repainted, hi-res character textures
- New, dynamic lighting
- Classic score re-recorded with a full live orchestra
- Over 2 hours of exclusive developer commentary
- Concept art browser
The game is available now on Google Play, it’s apparently going to sell for US$14.99 so that $12.77 price tag isn’t too bad. If you want a great weekend of adventure gaming grab Grim Fandango and re-live the game, or play it for the first time and fall in love.
