Grab a Wi-Fi Compatible Samsung Gear Live for $166

Gear Live

A lot of people are still skeptical of Android Wear and what it offers to users, but like so many other technological advances; once you’ve had it, its very difficult to go backwards. Personally I have multiple email accounts, several chat medium, pushbullet, pushover and social media setup on my phone. Android Wear allows me to quickly and discretely check (particularly in meetings) check what that last notification that came through was without having to get my phone out, extending my phone battery life by about 10% by adding the device to my list of toys.

It’s a first generation device, but the Samsung Gear Live made a big splash when Android Wear first came to be post Google I/O last year. Our review was very positive with some constructive criticism of the device. Since then, there has been an update to Android Wear allowing the devices to independently (of the linked mobile device) connect to Wifi to continue providing you with the connectivity you expect from your Android Wear Device.

Here’s the kicker: You can pick one up in Black at Officeworks for AU$166 which is over $80 below the price from less than 12 months ago.

If you’re uncertain about Android Wear in any way but really want to give it a crack, this may be the perfect time to jump onboard.

I think the price is more than fine… Indeed I want this as my second Live. My problem is the lack of stock, and I called before this appeared on the site…hope there is stock coming…

Still a bit overpriced imo, I’d consider buying this if it came down to about $120ish.

Agree… These low end plastic band Android wear watches should be around $100. I picked up the LG G Watch in December on a one day promotion direct from the Google Store for $99. At that price I can justify having it on my wrist knowing the hardware inside is just as good as the high end watches [minus WiFi], which I can’t say I miss as I always have my phone with me, or I’m within Bluetooth range of the phone. Also just received the 5.1.1 update which has made it much more intuitive to use. LG G Watch… Read more »
