Google has announced that its YouTube Gaming app will soon be able to support live game streaming from Android smartphones or tablets, giving users the ability to stream their games directly to YouTube without the need for any additional software downloads or requirements.

This new feature will also let users add video and audio commentary via your device’s front camera and a headset. Furthermore, users will also have the ability to record and upload game play clips to YouTube from Google Play Games.

These new features were announced by YouTube Gaming’s Global head of Content for Gaming, Ryan Wyatt, during the Tokyo Game Show. During the announcement he confirmed that Japan will be the first country to receive this new feature via the YouTube Gaming app.

Wyatt went on to say that “Japan’s mobile games define its gaming culture, far more so than in other countries,” hence the reasoning behind Google electing to launch this new feature there. Of course, YouTube Gaming is still a very small competitor against its biggest rival, Twitch, which is owned by Amazon but this has’t stopped Google from aiming for a higher marketshare.

You can watch a YouTube video of the Tokyo Game Show, with Wyatt beginning his part from 2:02:57:

YouTube Gaming app has received high marks, with users stating that the apps sleek interface as easy to use and one of the best out there. Of course Australia is still yet to see the app launch here and we will be trying to contact Google to find out when the company expects or is at least looking at bringing the app here to our shores. Till then we can only wait with baited breath and anticipation.
