Ausdroid weekly round up – 21 to 27 March 2016

ausdroidweeklynews

It’s been a big week in Android, Google and Telco news across Australia. It’s sometimes hard to keep up with the news with all our lives so busy, so we’re starting to present the news in a weekly wrap up for you to check out on a Sunday.

Reviews

This week we checked out the ZTE Blade V6, a mid-range handset with a nicely made aluminium body. At $299 we think it’s worth a look:

As a bonus, you can actually buy the actual Blade V6 we used for pictures in the review, it’s had minimal use and can be yours from just $99 on eBay. Check it out here:

Google and Android News

This week in Google news, Melbourne residents finally got access to what most major Australian cities have had for years: Google Transit information in Google Maps:

Telco

Telstra had a shocker, experiencing their third outage in two months, though thankfully it was limited to only certain areas with Telstra advising that less than 3% of customers were affected. To get the low-down check it out here:

Optus has extended the free Gear VR offer on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge for pre-orders online, so if you missed out on the pre-order deal check that out:

Deals

This week we have a couple of deals, as usual you can get an App and Game from Google Play which have been marked down to just 20c each. This week it’s Quell: Memento and Water Drink Reminder Pro. Check it out here:

One of 2015’s biggest movies is set to launch on April 1st on digital platforms like Google Play, but at $19.99 it may be a bit rich for some people. If you’re willing to use the Dendy Direct app, then you can grab the movie for as low as $5.89, that’s a bargain:

That’s it for this week, thanks again for reading. If you see something in Android, Chrome, Google or anything you think we’d be interested in, say something. Let us know by emailing, tweeting or sending a smoke signal our way.
