Launched at CES in January earlier this year, Huawei has announced their ladies editions of the already stylish Huawei Watch Classic, launching the Huawei Watch Jewel and Elegant here in Australia.

The watches are slightly larger than the now designated Huawei Watch Classic at 44mm across and 12.45mm thick, vs the Huawei Watch Classic’s dimensions of 42mm in diameter and 11.3mm thick.

The Jewel and Elegant Huawei Watch both offer the same cold-forged 316L stainless stainless steel body design as the classic, though now it’s adorned in a pleasant and very fashionable rose-gold plating . The two female focused designs differ with the Jewel sporting bezel laced with 68 1.5mm cubic zirconias embedded around the fully circular watch face. The Elegant offers a knurled ‘Clous De Paris’ pattern around the watch face for that elegant look with a textured ‘floriated’ crown on the side at the 2 o’clock position.

The Huawei Watch Elegant will come with a stylish Pearl White leather watch bands, while the Jewel will come with a Sapphire Blue leather strap. The straps are interchangeable with any 18mm bands on the market, offering freedom to customise your timepiece

While larger, the Huawei Watch Elegant and Jewel have the same specifications as the Huawei Watch Classic, starting with the same 1.4″, 400×400 resolution, full circle AMOLED display covered by a scratch proof Sapphire Crystal. The screen is bright and easy to see, handling decently well outside which we found in our review of the Huawei Watch Classic.

Under the hood is all the same specs, including Snapdragon 400 processor with 512MBRAM, 4GB of storage and of course Bluetooth 4.1 BLE and WiFi. The same health tracking hardware is on-board with a 6-Axis motion sensor including Gyroscope & Accelerometer, as well as a PPG Heart Rate Sensor. A Barometer is included as is the vibration motor and Huawei have also included the same speaker as the Huawei Watch Classic, which was recently activated in the Android 6.0 update for Android Wear – which both the Jewel and Elegant will run out of the box.

The watch has a 300mAh battery inside, and just like the classic is charged by a magnetic pogo charging pad.

The software on the Huawei Watch Elegant and Jewel remains the same, with Huawei listing compatibility for phones running Android 4.3 and above as well as iOS 8.2 upwards. Huawei has changed up the watch faces on offer, offering 10 feminine styled watch faces in addition to the 40 included with the Huawei Watch Classic.

While the Huawei Watch Classic comes in a beautifully appointed black retail case, the Huawei Watch Elegant and Jewel come in a similarly designed box, though it’s been changed in colour to a deep sapphire blue with gold leafed lettering. The box may not mean much to most, but at this end of the market it’s differentiators like this that make the difference and the just like the classic, the box for the female Huawei Watches sings premium to any potential buyers.

Huawei has arranged a more fashion focused launch for the new designs of the female focused Huawei Watches, making the watches available in Myer as well as selected Jewellery Stores in addition to their previous retail partner Harvey Norman. Pricing was, the Huawei Watch Elegant will be available from $699 while the Huawei Watch Jewel will retail for $799 when they hit retailers from April 20th.

Thicker and weirder than classic, that sucks. I loved these watches and thought to buy one for my wife and when she tried classic she didn’t like as she has smaller wrist. Shall wait for Motorola moto 360 2 female edition
