Samsung Gear S3 Smartwatch set to Launch at IFA

Samsung’s IFA Press announcements are firming up, with yet another tease that we’ll see the Gear S3 unveiled at the event. Samsung started inviting press to the event last week and have now moved on with another teaser.

According to an invite from Samsung, on August 31st in Berlin, it will be ‘time’ to “Talk about 3”. With the invite again overlaying the watch face and Gear logo on the page, not to mention the title of the graphic, New Gear Launch, we’re fairly certain we will be seeing a follow up to last years Tizen-based Smartwatch.

With Samsung pay already Launched in Australia and trials for NFC payments from the Gear S2 underway in the US we are hopeful that the Gear S3 launch will usher in the age of NFC payments from smartwatches. If Samsung does launch a wider availability of the functionality they will have leapfrogged Google’s Android Wear OS and proven why they “went it alone”.

IFA is shaping to be an exciting ‘time’ especially for smartwatches, whatever Samsung bring on stage we will be covering it here on Ausdroid as usual.
