Vodafone clears Nougat update for the Nexus 6P – rolling out from today

Android 7 Nougat
Carrier updates are usually slow to roll out, but it looks like at least some carriers are putting in the extra effort when it comes to the Android 7.0 update for the Nexus 6P. Following on from Optus approving the update the other day, Vodafone has today advised that they’ve approved the update and it should be rolling out from today.

Last week, Vodafone was reporting that they had referred an issue with the Nougat update back to Huawei, that appears to have been resolved now, so it’s going to start rolling out. The update will be staggered, so you may not get it right away. But if you’re in the initial launch group, you should be able to go to Settings > About Device > Check for Updates and get a prompt to update your device.

The fastest way to get an update to Nougat beyond waiting for your carrier – we’re looking at you Telstra and Virgin Mobile – is to enroll your device in the Beta program. Once enrolled, Google is shooting an OTA prompt to the full version of Nougat almost instantly to devices eligible to receieve it. Devices able to be enrolled in the beta program includes the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player and Pixel C.

If you’re wanting a taste of Nougat then there’s definitely ways to get it, so start checking for updates, or join the beta program.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.

I wonder if the Nougat update will fix the crappy Bluetooth connectivity that N6P has ….

Can someone explain this? last carrier nexus i had was the galaxy nexus that had specific drivers for radios. Is that still happening?

If I bought another through a carrier first thing id do is flash a generic image. Defeats the point of a nexus if you dobt get your update fix asap 😛

I do wonder what horrors await the Telstra Nexus 6P users if Vodafone found a bug. Well for now I’m just waiting for the OTA (guessing that’ll take months so perhaps it’ll be solid by then)
