Software Update: Sony Xperia Z with Android 4.2.2

Last week, we started hearing reports that Sony's Android 4.2.2 update for the Xperia Z had begun rolling out worldwide. The update is said to finally bring Sony's current flagship device up to date with the Android latest release, bringing with it a bunch of new features. As soon as I heard about it I started checking my device regularly for an OTA update, sadly to no avail - Sony's PC Companion software was also no help. Being a good, impatient Android nerd, I took matters into my own hands! I quickly acquired the Global C6603 10.3.A.0.423 firmware,... Continue reading

If you've yet to see it, you can use Kies on your desktop to download it manually... or, just wait patiently. Android 4.2.2 update for Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note II possibly delayed

For those waiting for the 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for their Samsung Galaxy S3 or Note II handset, it appears you will unfortunately be waiting quite a bit longer.  According to Sammobile twitter account the 4.2.2 update has been delayed until at least November.  The reason given is due to a new TouchWiz for the handsets. Recent leaks of ROMs and specific apps from the Galaxy S4 for the Galaxy S3 and Note II, show that they run quite acceptably on the slightly older models, so the conspiracy theorists are theorising that the real reason for the delay... Australian generic Samsung Galaxy S4 receiving OTA update, adds apps-to-SD support

If you're the owner of a generic Samsung Galaxy S4 bought in Australia (ie. not from Telstra, Optus or Vodafone) you should find yourself receiving an OTA -- over the air -- update sometime today. The major changes in this update include freeing up some internal storage space -- about 90MB -- and adding the ability to move apps to your SD card. Both of these were added after backlash from customers finding their 16GB devices only had 9GB of usable storage. @Ausdroid @BuzzMoody i have just received an ota update for my Australian generic #s4 Abt 369... Samsung begins firmware roll out for Galaxy S4 adds ability to install apps to SD Card

Samsung has apparently begun rolling out an update to the Galaxy S4 owners in Germany. As well as visual enhancements and app updates, the new firmware appears to address one of the major complaints surrounding the device: a markedly decreased amount of internal storage from what was advertised. With only 9.15GB out of the advertised 16GB available to users on the Galaxy S4, some users were finding it difficult to install all their apps as well as store videos, pictures and more; this latest update has managed to free 80MB of space to now allow access to 9.23GB of... Android 4.3 spotted running on a Nexus 4 at a trade show in Thailand

The next iteration of Android has pretty much been confirmed by a sighting of a Nexus 4 running Android 4.3 (JWR45B) by XDA user Chaleen at Thailand Mobile expo 2013. The familiar Android Jelly Bean Easter Egg screen 'confirms' that Android 4.3 will indeed be an iteration of Jelly Bean rather than a full blown update to Key Lime Pie. The screenshots provided show the settings menu, providing the details of the firware as well as the baseband. Inside the new Android version is a new Camera application which appears to have a new interface to access settings.... Continue reading
