Android 4.3 Update coming soon for Galaxy S III, S 4 and Note II

Reports from SamMobile suggest that three of the biggest Samsung devices of the last 18 months will be receiving Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates in a matter of weeks. The volume, frequency and accuracy of SamMobile's information in the past suggests they've got inside sources at Samsung, so when they talk about software updates, we listen. According to the site, the Galaxy S4 will receive the update in early- to mid-October, followed by the Galaxy S III in late October / early November, and the Galaxy Note II in late November / early December. Samsung releases the Golden Edition Galaxy S4

Samsung Gulf, Samsung's arm in the United Arab Emirates, has announced on its Facebook page a Golden Edition Galaxy S4. The phones dazzle in Gold Brown and Gold Pink, leaving little doubt that these versions are only for its most financially fluid of customers. Samsung is never one to back down from a fight, perhaps this is a pre-emptive strike against therumoured gold variant of the HTC One, although it's likely that Samsung has another popular device in its sights. Little information is available on the new colour variants, but it seems likely given... Continue reading

Flexible display coming to a premium version of Samsung Note 3 in October?

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this year, Samsung demonstrated its flexible display technology, called YOUM. Samsung presented a number of prototype displays, from a wafer thin flexible screen that showed vivid colours, to what they referred to as a "bended YOUM display". This bended display promises to be the earliest to be released, and ZDNet Korea has reported that it just might be coming to a premium version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Due to the high cost and difficulty of manufacture, this version of the Note 3 is rumoured to be... Continue reading

HTC facing parts shortages for One Mini pointing to possible poor Q3 results

HTC is that company that most Android fans keep rooting for, even in the face of some truly terrible financial results in their last few financial reports and it appears from a report from Reuters that their woes are not yet at an end. Citing sources familiar with the matter who advise that HTC is looking to post its first net loss this quarter, mostly due to issues with the HTC One Mini. Design difficulties have led to casing shortages which could contribute to the company not meeting expected shipping targets of 200,000 devices per month. The HTC One Mini has... Continue reading

Possible Android 4.4 Messaging and Phone App screenshots surface

Our first look at Android 4.4 came after a Nexus 5 running a supposed build of Android 4.4 was photographed and video'd after being left in a bar, now 9to5Google have received some screenshots of what appears to be updated Message and Phone Apps. The apps appear to have a colour scheme - Green for Messaging matching the Green icon and Blue for Phone, also matching its icon - which continues right up to the notification panel, where the text appears to be grey, a recurring theme from the shots of KitKat we've seen so far that... Nestlé Germany Facebook page points to October release

Apparently the relationship between Google and Nestlé is pretty tight, with the German arm of the Swiss based multinational food and beverage company advising a Facebook fan of their page that the release for Android 4.4 is expected in October. The response - 'Hi Tim, Android 4.4 KIT KAT ist ab Oktober verfügbar.' Translates to - 'Hi Tim, Android 4.4 KIT KAT is available in October'. Of course, further down the page, they answer slightly differently to another user - 'Android 4.4 KIT KAT wird im Oktober erwartet'. Which translates to 'Android 4.4 KIT KAT is expected... Nokia Android handset still in development at least until November at this stage

After a previous post in which we reported that Nokia was working on an Android based Lumia device, C Tech, a Chinese based website, are reporting that Nokia is in fact still working on such a device until November, which is when the Nokia/Microsoft merger could earliest occur. C Tech are reporting that the device is being made in partnership with Foxconn, who also make Apple's current iPhone range as well as other Android OEM's, that the partnership has already made 10,000 prototypes for the said Android device prototype. It is rumoured that the handset is not a high-end device,... Continue reading

Rumour: Asus to make the new Nexus 10 Tablet

For those of you wanting to get your hands on the next Nexus tablet, it seems that Samsung is not going to be making it, but Asus - the manufacturer behind the highly successful Nexus 7 tablets - will, at least according to a tweet from @Rage06 which has since been re-tweeted by @eveleaks. The tweet below comes from Ray who works at Curry's PC world in the UK and it does seem to confirm within their system at least that indeed the new Nexus 10 device will be made by Asus and not Samsung (as currently the... ‘Nexus 5′ spotted in GFXBench results – confirms Snapdragon 800 inside.

The Nexus 5 just refuses to stay under wraps, if todays 'leak' is to be believed. A phone reporting itself as the 'Nexus 5' has been spotted on GFXBench - a 3D graphics benchmarking site - where it left behind enough tantalising details to keep the collective Nexus news hungry audience happy for another day. The results show both hardware and software results from the device supposedly tested, with the board name of 'Hammerhead' keeping in line with existing system builds that have been leaked out previously. The internal build on the phone is listed as KRS71D... Continue reading

HTC One parts in Gold colouring spotted in China

We've already seen the HTC One announced in various markets in Glacial Silver, Stealth Black, Glamour Red and Vivid Blue but a new leak out of China could possibly point to a Gold coloured HTC One coming to market. The leak which shows a phone in parts only could just be something of a test device with no potential of coming to market, but with HTC seemingly trying to milk the HTC One by introducing colour variants, it's possible it could come to market. While HTC Australia have yet to announce anything with regards to local availability of the... Continue reading

Rumour: Android 4.4 and Nexus 5 to be announced October 14th

The physical details for the new Nexus phone have just about been confirmed in every detail thanks to some leaks at the FCC, but when it will launch and what features Android 4.4 - Kit Kat will bring to the table has not yet been determined. A new tip we've received - which we're taking with a large grain of salt - is advising that the magic date we're waiting for will be October 14th. The date certainly fits in with the time frame that most people are expecting of an October announcement of the next version of... Continue reading

Clear shots of what looks like the new Nexus found at the FCC

Remember the phone in the Kit Kat statue raising video? Well this picture and several more were found inside an FCC Filing for the Verizon LG G2 that was stopping past the FCC for certification. The phone is missing the horizontal 'NEXUS' logo from the video but does have the back camera lens and the flash holes line up perfectly with that phone - and the one from the LG-D820 FCC Filing. There's also a mysterious hole in the back, centre of the back. The pictures of the phone show the 3.5mm Headphone jack at the top,... Continue reading

LG D820 could be the next Nexus after all – LG D821 drops past the FCC

The emergence of the LG-D820 at the FCC proved pretty exciting for Nexus fans hungry for any news about the next upcoming phone. But a tweet from @EVleaks not long after proceeded to sink that for a number of people, with the serial leaker proclaiming that it was just a CDMA variant of the LG G2. At the time I wasn't convinced as the dimensions on the D820 vs the LG G2 were not a match meaning that it was more likely a Nexus than a G2 variant. LG G2 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9 mm LG D820 131.9 x 68.2... Continue reading
