HTC Nexus tablet certified by the WiFi Alliance

HTC Nexus tablet certified by the WiFi Alliance

The much rumoured HTC Nexus tablet – codenamed ‘Volantis’ or ‘Flounder’ – is very much anticipated after Google let the 1-year release window for their Nexus 7 line slide without any new announcements. The tablet has apparently quietly slipped through the WiFi Alliance – the certification body for WiFi capable devices – earlier this month. It’s an AOSP, Android L device, which is a great sign that this is indeed a Nexus device, with Google traditionally releasing a reference device for each new software platform. The listing, as you can see, also uses the fishy ‘Flounder’ code-name which Google traditionally[Read More...]

Toyota’s new infotainment system based around the Nexus 7

Android integration has already started to make its way into modern-day cars, the next step forward is Android Auto, which should start being introduced into 2015 model vehicles later this year and into next year. Twenty Five car brands have already signed up to Android Auto and have committed to shipping cars in the future, but Toyota has something completely different in mind — at least in Taiwan. LG announces the G3 UX to become standard on low-mid range smartphones and tablets

LG is quite proud of their latest iteration of the UX for their G3, it’s a matured skin which has really come a long way from their quite outlandish initial offerings. LG has today announced that they will begin standardising some of the proprietary features from the G3 into their low-mid range smartphones and tablets which will launch later this year. There’s a lot to like about the UX on the G3, and LG has been moving features from their high-end G series phones to lower end models since the Optimus G. Features like Knock Code have made their way[Read More...]

HTC Built Nexus 9 ‘Volantis/Flounder’ apparently certified in Korea

Since Google appears to have foregone releasing an update to the Nexus 7 line-up and rumours began to emerge of a HTC built Nexus 9 – codenamed Volantis/Flounder, the Android world has been waiting for more information. Since the rumoured release date for the tablet was around October/November, the expectations for more information has been low, but maybe, just maybe the Nexus 9 may have just surfaced briefly in Korea. The Korean equivalant to the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Radio Research Agency (RRA), has just certified a tablet made by HTC, which also carries a model # associated[Read More...]
