Google’s recently added privacy feature, dubbed App Ops, which was able to allow users to install apps while preventing the installed app from collecting sensitive data has is now gone in Android 4.4, according to reports. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) questioned Google over the removal of the feature, and Google responded stating the feature had been released by accident and was experimental. LG have today officially unveiled the Optimus L9 II in the Netherlands in which follows a leaked image of the device found its way onto the internet yesterday. The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3″ which we reviewed recently as an import, has now gone on-sale at JB Hifi. The latest JB HiFi catalogue is now showing the over sized phone on-sale for $598. Well it seems the wait is over for long suffering owners of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7″. It seems that Samsung Australia has finally pushed out Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) update. On the 5th of April Vodafone annoubced that they had approved the Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S II for both the Vodafone and 3 models. Unfortunately at the time, no date was given on when the update would be rolled out but today the information has been updated to advise that the update will begin to rollout tomorrow. Good news for Samsung Tablet owners, specifially the Galaxy Tab 2 owners with rumours that Samsung is looking into a Jelly Bean update for their tablet. The rumour which originates from SamMobile states that Samsung is looking at updating the tablet to the first Jelly Bean version(Android 4.1.2) before updating to the final(Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean version before ending the software update cycle for the tablet completely. In a tweet that has just gone out, Optus has advised that owners of one of 2011’s most popular phones the Samsung Galaxy S 2 will begin seeing their Jelly Bean update over the next week. This update will take the Galaxy S 2 from Android 4.0.4 to Android 4.1.2 and should come as an OTA update, but for those who cannot wait for the OTA notification you can always try downloading Kies. Good news for owners of the unbranded Australian version of the S-Pen wielding Galaxy Note 10.1 which launched last year running the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android, the update to Android 4.1.2 is now available via Kies. The update was listed in the @SamKiesUpdate tweet stream : https://twitter.com/SamKiesUpdates/status/296235634199236608 To update your tablet simply connect it to your PC and run the Kies software. A tip off from an Ausdroid reader Michael who has advised that the Jelly Bean update has arrived for his unbranded Samsung Galaxy S III which he purchased outright from Dick Smith Electronics. The I9300XXELLA Android 4.1.2 update is available for your handest via KIES.
