Telstra & HTC to get Froyo out to Desires this week

Telstra have informed the (angry) world today that Froyo (Android 2.2) will be sent out to HTC Desires this week. Current info from Telstra says that the update is with HTC for the push out OTA or via HTC Sync (We think it'll be OTA), so it's either in HTC's hands or Telstra are just handballing Continue reading...

Telstra could update HTC Desires OTA — Who knows..

Okay guys, let's try to keep the Telstra hate-venting down for a few minutes so we can all understand what is and isn't going on here. Above is Craig Middleton (Telstra's Team Group Manager for Media Relations), suggesting that Telstra's HTC Desires could indeed be updated OTA and is not aware of who "confirmed" that it's not coming OTA. Considering Continue reading...

Telstra have stated, via their Twitter presence, that the Froyo update for the HTC Desire will not be sent OTA (over the air), instead you will have to download it off the HTC AU website and update it yourself. Apparently the update is too big to send OTA, which is fair enough seeing as Continue reading...

If you trust Telstra and their announcement that Froyo would hit the HTC Desire within four weeks, you'll be happy to know that the "four weeks" ends this Friday the 15th. Even if it doesn't hit this between now and this Friday, we can only hope that it won't be too far off, or Telstra will make Continue reading...

Telstra sells out of the HTC Desire online

After having a quick browse on the Telstra site, it appears their flagship Desire has sold out. Surely it can't be from lacking AMOLED stock as they have since replaced most of their stock with Super LCD. It's also a tad strange that they've run out of stock considering it's the last month of their 6 month Continue reading...

What’s happening in October..

It's finally October, which means there is a fair bit of stuff expected to happen, unless of course you're waiting for your Android 2.1 or 2.2 update, because that'll no doubt be pushed back, again! In all seriousness though, there are a couple of fairly big launches coming up, and with a bit of luck we'll have even Continue reading...

Why Telstra should get the Desire Z

Telstra said at day 1 that they weren't going to launch an Android device until they thought the platform was mature & stable enough. They kept that stance until the HTC Desire was announced, a device they welcomed with open arms and really pushed, and it was that push that I believe really started the Android "craze" in Continue reading...

Finally.. A side-by-side comparison of Super LCD & AMOLED

What you see above is a side-by-side comparison of the HTC Desire with both a Super LCD (left) and AMOLED (right) display. AMOLED seems to have more intensity and brightness whereas the Super LCD has more sunlight legibility and a more accurate representation of colour. More comparison pics if you hit 'Read More'..
