Last night at Moore Park, Samsung held a launch event featuring the Galaxy Note II. We were also treated to first looks of other products including a range of Windows 8 convertible laptops and tablets and the new Android based Samsung Galaxy camera. Samsung Galaxy Camera After an hour of pre-event drinks and chatter with like minded folk, we were ushered into a large staged area and asked to take a seat. Mr Todd Sampson, the CEO of Leo Burnett, came out on stage and started off our evening with the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Camera. The Samsung Galaxy[Read More...]
Vodafone have approached us and asked us to promote something for them, and we’ve decided to do it. Why? Because it’s for a good cause. Vodafone is asking for programmers, developers and designers to donate their time to help charities build smartphone apps for their communities, under Vodafone Foundation’s 48 hour hackathon event, aptly named App Aid, to be held in Sydney from 20 to 22 September. App Aid is supported not only by the Vodafone Foundation, but by Facebook and Samsung too – it has some pretty big backing. Participants have the opportunity to get themselves, and their ideas,[Read More...]
Missed out on the live stream (thanks to Vodafone) of the Samsung Galaxy S III launch event this morning? Don’t worry, Vodafone have uploaded the entire 45 minute video to YouTube and we’ve embedded it below for your viewing pleasure. Let us know in the comments what you thought of the event. It’s certainly the best we’ve seen so far for a mobile launch here in Australia. Well played, Samsung, well played.
Did you want to attend the Samsung Galaxy S III launch event this Thursday but just couldn’t make it to Sydney (like me)? Well thanks to Vodafone this is no longer an issue. The telco will be live streaming the event on their website, hosted by the one and only, Fuzzy (of Video Hits hosting fame). The stream will start at 9:50AM and end.. well.. when the event gets boring — for Samsung fanboys, it will never end. Make sure you hit up Vodafone’s site Thursday morning to tune in.
The great team over at PC World Australia are reporting that Samsung Australia has sent out invites to the media for a launch event happening on May 31st. What might that event be for, you ask? Well I think this blanket statement from Samsung Aus sums it up nicely: “Samsung Electronics Australia is pleased there is continued interest about our GALAXY range in Australia, but we have no plans to make any announcements at this time.” We totally believe you, Samsung. Why on earth would want to launch the successor to the most successful Android phone to date — the[Read More...]
It’s almost here, guys. Samsung have notified the media (but not us..) that there is an event happening for the Galaxy Nexus on December 14th which is next Wednesday. There was no carrier directly mentioned with the invite so there will be no exclusive — an idea thrown around earlier on. We already know that Optus are going to carry the Galaxy Nexus and will go on sale around the 20th of December, a little too late for Christmas. Telstra is keeping mum on the subject and Vodafone is pointing people towards their blog every time the Nexus is mentioned.[Read More...]
Google has just sent out invites for an event to be held at 2pm PST in Los Angeles on the 16th of November(9am AEDT, November 17th for us). The Verge is reporting that their sources are advising the event is for ‘Google Music’ and with a title like ‘These Go To Eleven’, I’m seeing a Spinal Tap reference and according to Engadget the email was sent from ‘Nigel Tufnel’ so I’m inclined to agree. The event will be live streamed via the Android YouTube Channel YouTube.com/Android so we can all watch it. Personally I’d love to see Google Music bought[Read More...]
Over the last week I’ve been inundated by at least 2 emails asking me for more detail on the Ice Cream Sandwich and Samsung event that’s on today at 1pm AEDT. During the event Daniel, Irwin and I will be doing our best to post as close to live time information on the details of both Ice Cream Sandwich and the Nexus Prime which are both scheduled to be announced in detail today.

So Ausdroid has been in Sydney rocking out with the people from Sony Ericsson. We were invited to their exclusive Xperia Launch party — held last Wednesday night — and we had a ball. Buzz and myself both attended what was basically the official launch of the Xperia range, the Arc, the Play and the Neo. We were served drinks and food by computer/console game characters and some famous faces such as Lara Croft and Bruce Lee, all the way up to Slash from Guns N Roses. It was a really enjoyable night, thanks to James at Sony Ericsson and[Read More...]
To further cement our revelations that the Motorola Atrix and Motorola XOOM are headed to Telstra, Motorola have recently sent us out an invite to a launch event in early May. How convenient, seeing as though our source told us the Atrix is meant to launch mid May and the XOOM late May. Having played with the Atrix, I can tell you it’s not really worth waiting out for, as for the XOOM, I’ll hold my judgement until I play with one next week.
