The list, includes variants for the Samsung models shows a time frame for Android 4.4 updates which begins last month with the Note II and continues all the way to June with the Galaxy Grand 2 (which was never released in Australia) and the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and 6.3.[Read More...]

Android 4.3 rolling out to Telstra Samsung Galaxy Note II – other carriers to follow soon

Seems that the Android 4.3 update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has begun rolling out to handsets, at least Telstra branded handsets for the time being, with other carriers promising the update should begin shortly. At 946.94MB it’s not a small download so you may want to hit up a WiFi connection before you begin – there’s no word on whether it’s counted against your data plan – but it includes all the features you’d expect, including Knox update for consumers, Galaxy Gear compatability and improved UI and performance : The update is due to hit both Vodafone and[Read More...]

Samsung launches ArtCover service in Australia – and we’ve got two to give away!

Samsung this week opened ArtCover in Australia, a service that allows you to create custom back covers for your Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note II or Galaxy Note 3 handsets from your own artwork (or someone else’s, if you’re so inclined). Be sure to read to the end of the article for your chance to win an ArtCover! The service appears to be a collaboration between the Korean giant and Singapore-based iPortal Asia, which explains the apparant soft-launch of the service in the latter throes of 2013 around south-east Asia. When Samsung announced the Galaxy Gear at IFA in September, the compatability was limited to Samsung Galaxy devices and at that a limited selection, limited to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Note 10.1(2014 Edition) initially, but they advised that an update would come soon to the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S III, and Galaxy Note II in October. The rollout has begun for the Galaxy S4 – at least in Germany – but the other devices will be coming soon and Samsung has now extended the list of devices that will receive an update to be include compatibility[Read More...]

More Jelly Bean 4.3 leaks from Samsung – this time it’s the Galaxy Note II

We previously reported on a test build of Android 4.3 for the Samsung Galaxy S4, and now it is the older siblings turn, the Samsung Galaxy Note II (GT-N1700). This unofficial test update is a very early build, so be warned that it might contain its fair share of bugs and glitches. What this does bring to the Note II is  Samsung Knox, plus core elements of Touchwiz from the Galaxy S4 and Note 3 to bring  the Note II up to date within the family of devices. Knox divides your personal and work information, so that you only have[Read More...]

Rumour: Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III skipping Android 4.2.2

According to an “insider”, Temefy is reporting that Samsung are debating whether or not two of their devices are going to get Jellybean 4.2.2 as an official update. The devices in question? Oh, only the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II. Fear not, however! The debate boils down to whether they should bother with 4.2.2, or simply update these devices straight to 4.3. This rumour comes following a recent delay for the Galaxy S III moving to 4.2.2, while the Note II has been stagnant for some time with no indication of Samsung’s intentions for software updates.
