The update to Android 4.4 for the Motorola Razr M and Razr HD has been a long awaited by Australian owners, ever since Motorola announced the KitKat update for US models last November. But the wait is apparently almost over, with the Australian Motorola Support page now showing the update listed as due to receive an update to Android 4.4.2. While the Razr M and Razr HD support page gives no dates for the update, it’s been saying the 4.4.2 update was coming for a while, the Motorola Razr M and Razr HD was also sold on Telstra, and this[Read More...]

It’s update day for Motorola, and today’s updates may contain a welcome surprise for owners of their 2012 flagships, the RAZR HD and RAZR M. Stateside, Motorola released a KitKat update for the Moto X, making it the first Android OEM to do so, and it’s even beaten the Google Play Edition Galaxy S4 and HTC One devices to the punch. Contrary to earlier reports, Motorola’s support site is today showing that the HD & M handsets will see an update to KitKat. This is a little surprising as both devices stopped receiving updates after Android 4.1 Jelly Bean rollout[Read More...]

Telstra: Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S II 4G, Galaxy S III, One XL, RAZR HD all to receive major updates before year’s end
In Telstra’s most recent public announcement of software updates, they’ve informed users for a range of devices that major updates for their devices are expected to be rolled out before the end of this year. The Samsung Galaxy S II 4G “Ice Cream Sandwich” update is expected to see Telstra approval on November 26th, with roll out soon after. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus’s update to “Jelly Bean” (Android 4.1, not 4.2) has been delayed and is now expected to begin testing on Friday. On the final Samsung front, the Galaxy S III’s update to “Jelly Bean” (again, 4.1, not 4.2)[Read More...]
The “All Day Phone”… so does it really go all day? The RAZR HD is the latest phone from Motorola. Tagged as the “All Day Phone”, 4G capable, with a Kevlar body, internal and external splash guard protection, Corning Gorilla Glass and a 2500mAh battery, the RAZR HD really is built to be a hard-wearing and efficient phone. Motorola have also set up the software on this device to be simple to use straight out of the box. So the target audience is much wider than some other offerings on the market, as far as ease of use goes. Once[Read More...]

Motorola and Telstra held a joint event this morning in Sydney promoting the Razr HD and Razr M phones. While there weren’t really any surprises about the phones themselves (they’ve been covered fairly extensively since their launch a couple of weeks ago in the US), the big news is that the Razr HD is available today from Telstra stores. Tia and I arrived at about 9am to find that Motorola had appropriately decked out the entrance to the Museum of Contemporary Art with an Android army! After a while, we went upstairs for the presentation. Motorola made a[Read More...]
Motorola will hold an Australian launch for the RAZR HD and RAZR M Android phones on Tuesday 2 October A little while ago we brought you the news about Motorola’s new RAZR line of handsets, including the RAZR HD and RAZR M which were announced for Australia. Well, today the news has hotted up a little, with confirmation that the devices will arrive in October, following a launch event to be held on 2 October in Sydney. While we knew that these two phones were coming through Telstra sometime in Q4, today’s announcement indicates that they aren’t just coming in[Read More...]
Update: We have reached out to Motorola to confirm the availability of Jelly Bean for the Australian released handsets. While Australian users will not be eligible for a $100 rebate if Jelly Bean is not delivered, Motorola has confirmed that the RAZR M and RAZR HD will be upgraded to Jelly Bean, and more details on the timing of the update will be shared as soon as they are firmed up. Having been a bit quiet for a while, Motorola has come out and unleashed a slew of new handsets, and the better news is that some of them are[Read More...]
We’ve just received an invite to a Motorola / Optus launch event that will take place on October 27th. The invite image itself didn’t give us much to go with in terms of what would be announced, however, an attached video did give us a hand. The imagery in the video shows signs of lining up with some of the specs This is my next listed in their exclusive on a device called the Motorola Spyder — it’s set to be called the Droid RAZR in the US of A.
