OtterBox unveils the Symmetry Series of smartphone protection

OtterBox unveils the Symmetry Series of smartphone protection

Something most owners of slim and svelte smartphones have probably considered is how to add some protection to such a thin device without making it thick and frankly a bit ugly. OtterBox has introduced its new Symmetry range of smartphone cases to address this concern. Of interest to Android users will be the availability for the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One (M8), but as you can see pictured above, the cases are available for your friends who’re still stuck in the Apple reality distortion field. The cases are thin, clearly have appealing designs, and are as lightweight as possible.[Read More...]

Galaxy Note 4 apparently confirmed with 5.7″ QHD display

Galaxy Note 4 apparently confirmed with 5.7″ QHD display

Even though the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 isn’t expected to launch until the IFA conference in Germany in September, specs for the Phablet have apparently been outed by a listing on Indian import site Zauba which includes the model #, which led to the discover of the User Agent Profile (UAProf) on the Samsung Mobile website. Zauba listed a phone with model # SM-N910A, which would be the natural model # progression from last years Galaxy Note 3’s SM-N900 model #. The listing further lists the SM-N910A with a 5.7″ screen. A look through the UAProf site on Samsung Mobile[Read More...]

Samsung Galaxy S5 Update allows editing of dock icons… finally!

Samsung Galaxy S5 Update allows editing of dock icons… finally!

A frustration known by many Samsung device owners in Australia is the inability to edit the dock icons (shown above), which users see below all app home screens. Just about every other Android phone in existence allows the user to change these ever-present icons — ordinarily users can select Chrome or Gmail instead of the default Messages or Internet icons, or they can replace them with anything they like. Samsung, however, hasn’t allowed users to do this for quite some time, and it’s been a festering sore. It’s something that will probably start to hurt a little less now though,[Read More...]

Samsung Galaxy F shows up in ‘perfect golden’

Samsung Galaxy F shows up in ‘perfect golden’

The premium Samsung Galaxy F is rumoured to be launching sometime in September, with premium specifications designed to bring it into line with other phones launching in the market. And EvLeaks has just shown us the above render of the phone in ‘Perfect Golden’ colouring. The render of the Galaxy F also points to a September release, with a September 12th date on the screen. With IFA in Germany, where Samsung traditionally launches their Galaxy Note series phones, running from the 5th to the 10th, it seems there could be ‘just one more thing’ from Samsung just after the event.[Read More...]

Rumour: Samsung to reveal Galaxy Note 4 with curved screen and Gear Glass at IFA 2014

Rumour: Samsung to reveal Galaxy Note 4 with curved screen and Gear Glass at IFA 2014

September is the time of year when the international press gather in Berlin for IFA. It’s where Samsung has released their Note series phones and this year looks to be no different, with Samsung rumoured to launch the Note 4, but it won’t be alone, with Samsung rumoured to also be launching their Google Glass competitor – Gear Glass. What is interesting this year is that an unnamed Samsung executive has advised that Samsung will announce two versions of the Galaxy Note 4. Not only will they have different processors this time, but they will also differ visually. The unnamed[Read More...]

Bendigo Bank launches a retail point of sale mobile payment solution called ‘redy’

Bendigo Bank launches a retail point of sale mobile payment solution called ‘redy’

The Bendigo Bank has long been the upstart in the banking community, by aiming their services at communities who actually welcome them. They’ve done well by being big on small business, in a time when some of the larger financial institutions aren’t so interested, and they’ve just launched a retail point of sale mobile payment solution in partnership with Community Telco Australia (CTA), and Samsung Electronics Australia called ‘redy’. So what is redy? redy, is both the platform and app, which uses QR codes as opposed to NFC transactions that larger banks are seemingly aiming for, so iOS users as[Read More...]

Samsung unveils Galaxy Tab S tablet series – 8.4 and 10.5 inch devices, accessories in tow

Samsung unveils Galaxy Tab S tablet series – 8.4 and 10.5 inch devices, accessories in tow

At an event at Madison Square Garden in New York, Samsung launched their new tablet series, the Galaxy Tab S. The tablets will be available in 8.4- and 10.5-inch screen sizes with high resolution Super AMOLED 2560×1600 displays, a first for tablets. We’ve been impressed with Samsung’s Super AMOLED displays on phones in recent years, and it’s good to see the screen technology is making the leap to larger devices. The Galaxy Tab S devices are capable of 100,000:1 contrast ratio and are not only ultra bright but offer a true colour experience, with more than 90% of Adobe RGB[Read More...]

Samsung Galaxy F ‘Prime’ pictured next to a Galaxy S5

Samsung Galaxy F ‘Prime’ pictured next to a Galaxy S5

The Samsung Galaxy F or Prime rumours have heated up again overnight with PhoneArena posting the above picture of what they’ve been tipped is the Galaxy F posing next to a now downmarket looking Galaxy S5. The phone looks to be physically about the same size as the current Galaxy flagship, but the rumoured specs of the Galaxy F could see it knock the Galaxy S series off the premium pedestal. The phone is rumoured to be launching later this year, possibly in September, with a 5.3″, QHD 2560×1440 resolution display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and[Read More...]

Galaxy Tab S images and specs surface before launch

Ramping up to the Tab Into Color event, which will be held in Madison Square Garden in New York on the 12th of June, there’s obviously going to be leaks, this time it’s in the form of images which point to functionality that Samsung will include in their new line of tablets. Based on the phones in the Galaxy S line, the introduction of features from the phones is a given. The Fingerprint reader will be present to of course unlock the phone, as well as authorise PayPal transactions. There will also be a Remote PC function, to remote desktop[Read More...]

Samsung releases a video countdown to their GALAXY PREMIERE 2014 event

Samsung releases a video countdown to their GALAXY PREMIERE 2014 event

The Samsung Tab Into Color event, scheduled for the 12th of June at Madison Square Garden in New York is where we expect to see the Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablet series, which will feature high resolution AMOLED screens. It’s the bright coloured screens that Samsung is probably alluding to in their teaser video they’ve just released to their YouTube channel. It’s merely a teaser and doesn’t add a terrible amount to what we’ve already seen of the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and 10.5, which includes renders and rumoured specs, and even a leaked manual. You can join the live[Read More...]

Samsung shows off their new Galaxy S5 commercial for Australia

Samsung shows off their new Galaxy S5 commercial for Australia

Samsung has released their new commercial for the Australian market onto their YouTube channel. Focusing heavily on features, the commercial starts by showing off the Gear 2 and Gear Fit wearables, and moves on to show the features of the Galaxy S5 like power saving and of course the newly introduced IP67 water resistance. The video mostly manages to avoid throwing shade at non-Samsung phones, and of course the young lady yelling out ‘My Phone!’ as it’s splashed isn’t definitely using an iPhone, but well, you can draw your own conclusion. It’s a decent commercial and should make for some[Read More...]
