Telstra to launch the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Sony Xperia Z1 on October 15th

The Note 3 and the Xperia Z1 are much anticipated phones for various reasons we’ve seen pricing for the Galaxy Note 3 already but at the time of that information there was no launch date. Today an anonymous tipster has advised us that both the Xperia Z1 and the Note 3 will launch on the Telstra network on October 15.   While the Z1 is comparable in specs and size etc to the Galaxy S4 and the HTC One it seems the pricing is too.  In a pricing schedule for business plans the Sony Xperia Z1 is shown to be[Read More...]

Telstra/ZTE bringing the T83 “Dave” 4G ruggedised device

It seems ZTE who make most of Telstra’s cheaper devices, such as smartphone, modem dongles/wifi and tablets are set to launch a new ruggedised 4G Android smartphone, which given their relationship, will probably launch as a Telstra branded device. The device, which has been given the name Telstra Dave 4G, is being described as a ruggedised 4G Android smart phone with IP67 certification – waterproof to 1 metre and dustproof – and has been given the Telstra blue tick for improved rural and metro coverage both on the Telstra 4G and Next G networks. The specs for the T83 Dave[Read More...]

Telstra drops pricing on international data packs

Telstra drops pricing on international data packs

The recent focus on the cost of mobile data and calls by both Optus and Vodafone have seemingly forced Telstra to look at their own data pricing, with the largest Telco in Australia advising that from the 14th of October they will introduce some new ‘cheaper’ options. Whilst not as outrageously expensive as their current data pack offerings, which sees you charged $29 for just 20MB of data, the new Casual Traveler Data Packs now provide five times the data at the same price, although all the packs have a 30 day expiry on them : $29 for 100MB to[Read More...]

Sony’s next wave: Xperia Z Ultra, Z1, QX lens cameras

It’s been a while since we saw a major Android product launch from Sony in Australia – the most recent being the Xperia Z in February and its sibling Xperia Tablet Z in June. While we’re still seeing Sony’s “Best of Sony in a smartphone” ads around Australia, Sony has moved on internationally with the recent additions to their flagship Xperia Z sub-brand – the enormous 6.4-inch Xperia Z Ultra and the Xperia Z1, which looks set to take the Xperia Z’s place as Sony’s premier offering. We’ve also seen rumours, leaks and finally confirmation of Sony’s new “lens” cameras,[Read More...]

In addition to this, Telstra are also throwing in a Fitbit Flexi for all online pre-orders through their website, which would probably go in some way with the S Health App on the device………..maybe!
