Android 2.2 now officially available for Dell Streaks from Optus

Not too long ago we told you that there was a not-so-official way to update your Dell Streak to Android 2.2 (with Dells own Stage UI, of course), though if you weren’t one of the adrenaline junkies who updated that way, you’ll be happy to know Optus and Dell Australia have the Android 2.2 flying over the airwaves to your device as we speak. To check for the update go to settings -> about phone -> system updates or something along those lines.

There are a lot of new features in the update, most excitingly the Dell Streak will now be able to record video at 720p. Other features include..

  • SWYPE Pre-installed
  • Backup & Restore Application
  • Live Wallpapers (of course)
  • Native MultiTouch Support (was only in the Browser for 1.6)
  • Faster Performance

You’ve got a lot to look forward to, Streakers 😉 Hit the source for allllllll the information. If you’ve already got the update, sweet, tell us what you think!

I would also like to know if people who have updated to the UK 2.2 software can get a hold of the Optus version.

No instructions anywhere that have worked for me. I’m now assuming this won’t work for people who have already upgraded to the non-optus version.

I really have a soft spot for the streak… The mini tablet thing works for me…
