Vodafone shows off the HTC EVO 3D, should launch later this month on both Voda & Telstra

Vodafone have just given a quick run through of the basic features found on the upcoming HTC EVO 3D which will be launching on Vodafone and Telstra later on this month. There’s no word on pricing and exact launch date, but we’ll let you know as soon as we find out.

The software running on the EVO 3D — at launch — will be Android 2.3.4, so you’ll be able to GTalk Video Call, as well as Sense 3.0 which is also found on the HTC Sensation.

With the ability to shoot and view 3D videos (which are shot at 720p) and images being the forefront of its spec-sheet, it’s going to be interesting to see just how well the EVO 3D takes off with consumers. After having played with the Optimus 3D — review coming soon, I’ve been assured — Lucas thinks 3D is very much a niche feature that won’t suit everyone.

The EVO 3D is based off the HTC Sensation, however, there are a few differences in the specs which I’ve highlighted in grey..

Well there you have it. We’ll keep you updated should we hear anything from the official or unofficial channels. In the meantime, what do you think of 3D? Just a fad or something to watch out for?

3d is a dud everywhere….. Look at 3d tv in the home and yes I own one. It’s been used less than a handful of times for 3d.

Give it up people. 3d isn’t ready for prime time yet. I’ll pass.

It’s a ‘nice to have’ feature.
Imagine 3D gtalk video.

I’ve had my french EVO 3D since last week and it is delightful.
the only issue I sighed slightly at was when I transferred 3D photos from my Fujifilm W3 3D camera I had to adjust the viewing angle for the depth to work on my HTC.
but other than that, its delightful.
everyone get one.
it’s like my ruby red incredible s but with 3D for no reason!
delightful.

The processor spec is wrong. The 8860 is for the cdma variant. It should be 8260.

Meh. I had a play with the optimus 3d a while back, I wasn’t that excited.
Plus Sony have said (and I agree) that 3D TVs are dead in the water so what good will a 3D movie be if you have nothing to play it on?

When did Sony say that “3D TVs are dead in the water”? Not that I disagree, but I would have thought such a statement would have been kinda big news. When did I miss this?

I’m not interested with the 3D features. But 1gb of RAM and a more powerful battery sure makes it seem like a better choice for HTC lovers than the Sensation. Camera megapixels don’t really affect me much as long as it’s not too low.

Completely uninterested in the 3D, but more RAM and a bigger battery may make it appealing anyway — all the HTC cameras suck so you’re not buying the phone for the camera.
