VLC about to launch on Android shortly?

The VideoLan Twitter account just posted the tweet above, indicating that an official VLC Port for Android may be on it’s way soon. The Android page on the VLC website currently lists the status for the Android app as ‘VLC for Android is in development. Come later for more information’. Currently there are unofficial Alpha builds of VLC out there which you can get but nothing official has been seen as yet, hopefully this tweet means one of the best media players on PCs is about to make an appearance for Android.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.

I’m currently using MX Player Pro for video playback on my Samsung S2, with VLC on the PC. Android VLC will need to be very good…

I like using this on my PC and so I’m looking forward to having this on my phone too.

Come on VLC, I’ve been waiting for this for over a year. Resisted myself from installing any alpha versions for a long time haha.
