I travelled home yesterday and thought about the apps I use whilst I travel, I flew so these are centred around the flying experience. They aren’t free but I think they were worth the money I paid. All three of these apps are actually useful whether travelling or just waiting to pick someone up from the airport.

First up is LiveATC for Android it’s $2.89 in the Google Play store, it is an application that feeds through the live radio traffic from the Air Traffic Control towers at the airport, they highly recommend that you check their website to ensure that the Airport that you’re going to is covered, but it’s pretty good, Canberra and Sydney airports are covered but check just to make sure. Very interesting to listen to what goes on.

The next app is Flight Track, it’s currently $4.97 in the Google Play store. It’s core function is to supply you information on your flight, you enter the flight number into the app and it tracks the status of that flight number, it automatically notified me the other day of a change to my flight due to the power outage in Melbourne and updated the gate # even before the flight boards changed at Sydney Airport.

Lastly, just like the LiveATC app, it’s just a bit of fun but FlightRadar24, there is a Free version or Paid version which costs $2.49, difference is that the free version only shows limited flight info. The app basically tracks your flight in realtime on a map, pretty cool and as I said more just a bit of fun.

3 Days left in the Indie Gala sale where for as little as $1 you can get Ichi, Battle Group and The Lost Souls and remember if you pay over the average price which still stands at $4.99 you will then get Xelorians, Call of Cthulhu: Wasted Land and Little Stars for Little Wars 2 as well as PC Games Tiny Plumbers, Spin Deluxe and Cute Things D. V. so check out the Indie Gala website

If you know of a good app you’d like to share or see an app on sale that you feel is a good deal, let me know by tweeting me or emailing me
