Keeping with the Christmas theme this month, the NORAD Tracks Santa app is now once again live and receiving updates. The team at NORAD(North American Aerospace Defense) has been tracking the jolly fat man in the red suit since 1955 when a Sears store accidentally misprinted the telephone number for Santa, which turned out to be the Air Defense Command phone number, since then NORAD has followed Santa Claus’ mythical and Christmas Eve journey around the world and provided updates.

There is a countdown app in there which countsdown not to Christmas but to when the Google Map goes live and NORAD begins to track Santa. Until that time the app contains a game, information about and contact details for NORAD, links to the Google Map to track Santa and the NORAD tracks Santa Youtube account. It is a bit of fun and I’m sure young kids will want to track Santa as he nears Australia on Christmas eve.

The app is free in Google Play for devices running Android 2.2 and upwards and is just over 6MB to download, why not check it out.

Found a good deal on an app you’d like to share? Are you an Australian developer with an app you would like reviewed? Or have you found a most expensive app on the Play Store? Let me know! You can tweet me or email me.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.
