Since watching my first episode of Star Trek – The Original Series around 30 years ago, I have wanted a Tricorder. The closest I think I’ll come though is my Smartphone and to that end I love the amount of sensors built-in to our phones these days, so I found this app to try out, Android Sensor Box which basically gives you a very nice visual representation of what the sensors in your phone are detecting about their surroundings. All the sensor types are there : Accelerometer, Light, Orientation, Proximity, Temperature, Gyroscope, Sound, Magnetic and Pressure sensors are all visually represented (Except the Temperature Sensor on the Nexus 4) based on what your phone has available.

The Android Sensor Box is free on Google Play for devices running Android 2.1 and upwards and is a 3.4MB download.

Found a good deal on an app you’d like to share? Are you an Australian developer with an app you would like reviewed? Or have you found a most expensive app on the Play Store? Let me know! You can tweet me or email me.
