I was looking through free apps in Google Play on Saturday and came across Catapult King. The game is fairly simple you have a catapult – or more what I’d describe a large slingshot – and need to destroy all the towers or at least take out the Knights in the opposing towers. It’s really easy to control, simply drag the projectile back towards you and drag your finger left/right to aim, there is also an elevation control you can set before you draw back on the catapult.

It was fairly obviously a freemium game but straight up I found I was progressing through rounds fairly quickly, until later when I found that using any of the magic I’d acquired to purchase higher end ammunition depleted much quicker than I could replace it. It may have been me just not being up to the challenge but I lament that this game is actually freemium because it really is quite good and I would love to play it further, however I don’t think I could afford to at the rate I needed to purchase upgraded ammo.

Graphics wise it’s a nice clean look and well designed, it’s fun and I think you should at least try it and see how you go, it’s free(freemium based obviously) and available for devices running Android 2.3 and upwards. It’s 20MB to download.

Found a good deal on an app you’d like to share? Are you an Australian developer with an app you would like reviewed? Or have you found a most expensive app on the Play Store? Let me know! You can tweet me or email me.
