The app today comes from our own Lucas Burnett who on last nights podcast recommended Stocard – Loyalty Card. Simple concept, all the store loyalty cards that you normally use to scan at registers to earn points are captured in the app using the in-built barcode scanner. The app is specifically optimised for Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom & Ireland so it’s likely your stores loyalty card will be there but, if it’s not it can be included as a generic “Other card”.

The app does come with a warning :

Several stores still use outdated scanner technologies (laser or flatbed scanners instead of image scanners). These scanners unfortunately cannot read smartphone displays. In this case simply ask the cashier to type in your loyalty card number manually, to get your discounts.

Based on the warning I’m going to try out the cards I’ve added before removing them from my physical wallet but it’s definitely worth a go.

Found a good deal on an app you’d like to share? Are you an Australian developer with an app you would like reviewed? Or have you found a most expensive app on the Play Store? Let me know! You can tweet me or email me.
