Beautiful Widgets has been at the pointy end of the top paid apps list on Google Play for quite some time and today they have released a new free version.

The idea behind the free version is to have a basic app where you can then add the content that you want to see through the use of in-app purchases. To keep things as simple as possible, all of the content is grouped into packs.

Although the app uses in-app purchases to unlock content, LevelUp Studio have decided to do things a little different. They have partnered with Getjar so you will be able to earn Getjar Gold by installing the free apps on the Play Store that Getjar recommend. You will then be able to use this virtual currency to purchase the additional content.

If this all seems too difficult or too messy, you will be able to unlock the content through normal Google Play in-app purchases.

This may be a good way for people to be able to try out some of the additional content without having to shell out for the pro version.

Personally, I think this is all a bit messy, and I would prefer a simple, feature or time limited free version to try out before purchasing the app.

I had to remove it, was using 30 to 40% of battery every day.

Got the paid version ever since it was released on the play store (android market back then) and have never found any other app that can match BW. The live weather wallpaper is simply brilliant.
