Looking around Google Play there are a few things happening, as usual in Google Books there is a ‘Deal of the Week’ and this week it’s Natural Causes: Inspector McLean Novel 1 by James Oswald for $4.99. It appears that Google listened to my request last week because this appears to be book 1 of a decent Mystery series.

Elsewhere, in Google Play Movies there are two focuses happening, the first is on The Lord Of The Rings. The Hobbit is out on BluRay/DVD this week and also available to Rent or Buy in Google Play Movies, you can rent it in SD for $5.99 or HD for $6.99, but if you have to own it you can do so with the SD version available for $19.99 or the HD Version for $24.99. The original Lord Of The Rings Trilogy is also shown with Fellowship Of The Ring and Return Of The King available to rent in SD for $3.99 or HD for $5.99, it appears you can only rent the Two Towers in SD for $3.99.

If you’re a Trekkie then you’ll know that the second J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie : Star Trek Into Darkness is due in Theatres from this Thursday, Google Play does and is offering the entire back catalog of Star Trek Movies for rental or sale. They’ve also included Movie Magazines Geek and Total Film as well as a link to the Star Trek App from Paramount that lets you get in on exclusive content.

Found a good deal on an app you’d like to share? Are you an Australian developer with an app you would like reviewed? Or have you found a most expensive app on the Play Store? Let me know! You can tweet me or email me.
