After first showing up at the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition), the upcoming Tablet optimised version of the Android Twitter App certainly drew a bit of excitement, and now the APK has found its way onto the internet.

German site AndroidNext.de has posted the APK of the yet to be released App, but it’s not without issues. The app failed to launch on either the Nexus 7 or the Nexus 10 when I ran it on both despite a full uninstall of the official Twitter client and then an install of the leaked APK. It’s not a promising start, so quite frankly you’re actually better off waiting for the official release.

While the official Twitter clients have been lacking a few features – Hashtag/Keyword Muting, Instagram and picture preview to name a few -, while at the same time preventing more feature rich clients from expanding to more users once they’ve reached the 100,000 user limit that has been imposed by the Twitter mothership.

The Tablet UI shown off in screenshots on the site shows a fairly decent landscape view and once finally released should actually make for a fairly decent client. When it will actually go live in Google Play for all of us is unknown but hopefully it won’t be too far away.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.

It’s quite good on my hp touchpad.. has inline images which is a welcome addition.

I think they could have made better use of the area onthe right though, I mean, i didn’t need to see suggested users ALL the time.

Force closes here on nexus 7 😛 so that was fun 🙂

Uninstalling / reinstalling fixed that 🙂
Seems a lil squashed on nexus 7 landscape. Portrait mode is much the same.

Hmmm, hopefully they optimise it for 7″ tablets when it’s officially released. :S

Post a screenshot of what it looks like in landscape? 😀
