Ausdroid attends the Sony Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra launch

Sony Launch invite

Earlier this evening Jason and I attended the Sony Mobile event in Sydney and spent some hands-on time with some of Sony’s new smartphones and accessories. On show were the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra, Smartwatch 2, the QX10 lens-camera plus other accessories and gadgets. The Xperia Z1 is intended to ‘create’ media with its 1/2.3-inch lens camera and the Z Ultra to ‘consume’ media with its gorgeous 6.44″ display. As we reported previously the Xperia Z1 will be available from Optus, Virgin and Telstra while the Xperia Z Ultra will be available through Optus only. Aside from having a good time geeking out with fellow gadget lovers we were also able to pick up Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 review units – look out for our reviews in the coming weeks.

I’m torn between the LG G2, Xperia Z1 and new Nexus. G2 obviously has a head start, and I’m definitely looking for reviews of the production Z1 to inform decision. Info on the real world performance of the camera in the Z1 being of particular interest.

I hear ya! Better still, if Google let Sony build the Nexus 6. At least we don’t have to speculate on a Nexus 5s 6 months from now!!

Ack. I was hoping Virgin would be offering the Ultra Z too.
