Lenovo releases Yoga like Android tablets

Lenovo IdeaPad B6000 B8000 F

Lenovo have released two very interesting Android tablets in Germany. The counter-intuitively named IdeaPad B6000-F and B8000-F have 8″ and 10″ displays respectively. What makes these tablets unique is their built-in 2 stage folding  back panel. When not needed, the panel folds flat against the back of the device:

When you want to prop up the tablet, you can use the smaller flip out panel for two positions:

Or the larger back panel for a more stable stand:

In terms of specs, they are almost identical, with both having a quad-core MediaTek MT8125 processor at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 16GB internal memory, GPS and a 5MP rear camera. For connectivity they come with Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. Battery sizes are a generous 6000 mAh for the B6000-F, and 9000 for the larger B8000-F. They ship with Android 4.2.

Where they do differ is the screen size and Dots Per Ich (DPI). Whilst they both have a resolution of 1280 x 800 – this calculates as 188 DPI for the 8′ tablet, and a moderate 150 DPI for the 10′ version.

The middle of the road specs are definitely reflected in the pricing. The IdeaPad B6000-F retails in Germany for 215 euros ($310) and the IdeaPad B8000-F costs 280 euros ($400). These prices include a 19% tax that may not be charged if you were to import one into Australia, defraying some of the shipping costs.

The tablets have just been released in Germany only, so far. If you would like to get your hands on one these very interesting devices,  the good news is that Top-Elektronikwelt offers international shipping, but you have to contact them to arrange delivery. We have contacted Lenovo Australia, who are unsure if Australia will be officially getting these tablets, but we’ll be keeping an eye on some of our favourite suppliers such as B&H Photo.

What do you think about these tablets? Interesting design? Let us know in the comments!

Unlikely we’ll see these come to Australia despite the Yoga-esque design.

Lenovo Australia mainly is focused on offering Thinkpad branded tablets here in Australia.

Interesting, would like at least 1080 screen. Why 1200×800?? These are so 2011-12…

Interesting design, and I like seeing the front firing stereo speakers on this Lenovo. But I wonder if the speakers do a chanel swap when you rotate the tablet from the near vertical, to the low angle.
