motorola migrate

Just after we start our Android for Everyone guide series, Motorola went ahead and made one part of the process just that little bit easier.

Many iOS users will have experimented with iCloud or moved their contacts/calendar information there. This is all well and good, but it does present a bit of an issue when or if you want to move from iOS to a different platform.

While we’ve gone through in some detail how to extract your personal data from an iOS device in our Android for Everyone guides, if your contacts and calendar information are in iCloud, you could try Motorola’s Migrate app instead. However, there’s a catch — it’s only for the Motorola Moto G (well, it does support other Motorola devices, but they aren’t available in Australia).

If you’ve got a Moto G and you’ve upgraded from an iOS device, check out the Motorola Migrate app (below) and see if it can help you migrate your contacts and calendar from iCloud nice and easy. If not, check out our Android for Everyone guides and we’ll keep on with the switching path.

You may also be able to simply use Motorola’s tool to migrate iCloud Contacts and Calendar to a Google account using their web service, but we haven’t tested this. Your mileage may vary.

Chris has been at the forefront of smartphone reporting in Australia since smartphones were a thing, and has used mobile phones since they came with giant lead-acid batteries that were "transportable" and were carried in a shoulder bag. He saw the transition from AMPS to GSM, loved the Motorola StarTac, and got into Palm technologies in a big way. The arrival some years later of the original iPhone, and then the early Androids, awoke a new interest in mobile technology, and Chris has been writing about it since.
