Android Distribution Numbers for April 2014

April 2014 Distribution Numbers
The April numbers are in for the Android platform distribution and it’s looking good for KitKat, with a 3.2% increase in numbers. There’s a small drop in Gingerbread use as is expected as older handsets get upgraded and Jelly Bean saw a small decline over the three versions that are counted. Overall, Froyo and Honeycomb still hang in there, but we expect them to stay round a little longer.

Check out the comparison month over month:

Android Version March April
Android 2.2 (Froyo) 1.1% 1.0%
Android 2.3.3 – 2.3.7 (Gingerbread) 17.8% 16.2%
Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) 0.1% 0.1%
Android 4.0.3 – 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) 14.3% 13.4%
Android 4.1.x (JellyBean) 34.4% 33.5%
Android 4.2.x (JellyBean) 18.1% 18.8%
Android 4.3 (JellyBean) 8.9% 8.5%
Android 4.4 (KitKat) 5.3% 8.5%

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.
