HTC announces the One M8 in Pink and Red for the UK – most likely not coming to Australia

HTC are well known for releasing various colour variants of their flagships through the year, mainly as a way to keep interest in the devices while only making a very cosmetic change. Overnight they’ve announced that the previously announced for Verizon in the US Red HTC One M8 variant, as well as a new Pink version will be heading to the UK.

Both the Red and Pink versions of the HTC One M8 will go on-sale in the UK on August 7th. The Red M8 will be exclusive to UK based carrier O2, with pre-orders starting on August 5th. The Pink HTC One M8, will be exclusive to Carphone Wearhouse but with pre-orders opening tomorrow with a free HTC Dot View case for customers who pre-order tomorrow.

Though that Red M8 is quite the good looking phone and my mother would have purchased that Pink M8 in a heartbeat, the news for an Australian release is probably not good. Historically we’ve not seen official launches of the colour variants of the HTC phones down here, most likely due to the size of the Australian market not lending itself to support too many variations. Still, perhaps we’ll see them available through importers.

Would you purchase a red or pink HTC One M8?

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.
