Onix smartphone is rubbish – it has no indicator light if you have a message or missed call, tones are really soft so you can’t really hear them. Really hard to get a cover for it, I have just bought another one elsewhere, don’t go near Onix – cheap and nasty.

For the phone, it says it’s “Dual Sim” Can you tell me if this means it will take the nano sim? (I’m going to buy the phone and also I’m just signing up for the Aldi mobile phone plan – https://www.aldimobile.com.au/checkout/. One of the choices is that I can request a ‘nano sim’ rather then the standard sim.)

    No John.
Aldi should be paying you $50 to take such a comprehensive POS.

I have just purchased a 9″ tablet but am having all the trouble in the world getting it to connect to the internet. I placed the SIM card from my phone into the tablet and it made a phone call. When connected to wi-fi, the tablet says its connected with great signal, however when attempting to connect to the internet it says it’s not connected. Is it possible that the tablet has to have a SIM card and be connected to wi-fi at bthe same time??? Any help would be great.

Possibly check the APN and make sure it’s setup correctly

I bought the dual sim phone, so I don’t have to carry around the brick from work. All appears to be working well – has anyone worked out how to switch between the front camera and back camera – not intuitive, and not in the manual. Also manual not on Tempo site and they are only open Mon-Fri. If anyone can help, I’d appreciate it. For my purposes, the camera may be the phone’s weakest link.

Most likely the phone is Micro-SIM (the most commonly used SIM card format at the moment), the phone is now in-stores so you should be able to check the boxes in your local Aldi store.

Hi Sue, There should be a manual with your Tablet which will show you the slot for the SIM card – otherwise, contact Aldi (the store you purchased it from) or Tempo Australia, who distribute Onix Branded devcies in Australia – their website is here or their contact # is (02) 8977 3701

Without any instructions it’s a little hard to help out, is there a model # supplied or can you show us some pictures of the device? There is an email contact # on the website I linked to, you can also try talking to the store for further help.

Hey my name is Sam I got the 9″ tablet if you go to the side of the tablet with the hardware buttons on the lip between the front and back of the case you will see a little gap around the size of a fingernail, push your nail into it and gently slide it across. The small back cover will pop off and you know have access to the micro SD and sim slots

Just noticed your reply on this article.
I was not in line at the Aldi checkouts for either device.
Their mobile phone is not one I’d consider.
The tablet would, in almost every aspect, be a downgrade on their 10.1in tablet from mid last year.

Sorely tempted by the 9″, even with it’s substandard looking battery, res and RAM.

Seems it has BT for a headset/handsfree – any confirmations it can make phone calls?

For those having trouble putting in the sim card on the 9″ version — I just helped a friend with the same issue — look on the right side’s edge and you will see a little hole that is about as wide as a fingernail and as long as a sim card. This is where you need to stick your fingernail in and snap open the panel – it is help on with little clips inside so you will think you are breaking it but you will soon see that’s not the case. Once the panel is removed you can… Read more »
