HP announces updated 11″ and 14″ Chromebooks with Celeron and Tegra K1 processors

HP 2014 Chromebooks
HP too has announced a couple of new products at IFA this year, announcing a refresh to their line of 11″ and 14″ Chromebooks.

The update to their Chromebook range sees some new colour choices, as well as some new changes under the hood. This time around HP has begun using the Intel Celeron processor in their 11″ range, while the 14″ range of Chromebooks will use the NVidia Tegra K1 processor.

The Chromebook 11, will be available with an 11.6″ display with a 1366 x 768 resolution. The Chromebook 11 will be powered by a 2.16GHz Intel Celeron N2830 Processor with options for 2GB or 4GB of 1333MHz DDR3L RAM. A 16GB SSD is included, and as usual a 100GB Google Drive Storage offer will accompany the Chromebook to store data in the cloud. There will be Intel 2×2 802.11ac and 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN, Bluetooth 4.0 and option for LTE/HSPA, however the LTE/HSPA option will probably be US only.

The Chromebook 11 will come with a 3-cell 36WHr lithium-ion polymer battery, offering 8.25 hours of battery life. With dimensions of 30.0×20.57×2.045cm @ 1.283kg, the Chromebook 11 will be offered in Ocean Turquoise and Snow White colour options.

The Chromebook 11 will come powered by the NVidia Tegra K1 processor, it will also have optiosn for 2GB or 4GB of 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM. Options for 16GB or 32GB of storage will be made available with the option for 100GB Google Drive Cloud Storage on offer as well.

There will be Intel 2×2 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and options for HSPA, but again, this will most likely be a US only option.

A 3-cell 37WHr lithium-ion polymer battery is included, with up to 8.25 hours of battery life. The Chromebook 14 will measure 34.4×24.0x1.78cm @ 1.715kg and be available in four colour options Smoke Silver, Sorbet Orange, Ocean Turquoise or Neon Green.

HP has only announced US availability and pricing at this stage, advising that the Chromebook 11 will be available on October 5th starting at US$279.99, while the Chromebook 14 will arrive on the 22nd of October starting at $299.99. We’ll be asking HP Australia about availability of the Chromebook 11 and Chromebook 14 in Australia and update when further information comes to hand.

“The Chromebook 11 will come powered by the NVidia Tegra K1 processor”… I think that second one is meant to be the Chromebook 14 right?

Disappointed there’s no 1080p screen on the Chromebook 14, otherwise it looks like it would finally be the Chromebook to tick all my boxes and get me jumping into the platform…

I think Chromebooks are getting powerful enough for me to make that purchase, although 32SSD only still sucks
