6-inch behemoth, Galaxy Mega 2 now showing on Samsung’s Thai website

The Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 has begun showing on Samsung’s Thai website. The presence on the website could possibly indicate a launch in Australia before the end of the year.

The original Samsung Galaxy Mega came in two sizes, 5.8 and 6.3-inch, and were originally available as import only, before JB Hi-Fi started selling the 6.3″ variety in August last year for around $600. Jason reviewed the 6.3 version and had mixed feelings about the device due to the 720p screen, size and performance.

The Galaxy Mega 2 on the other hand is slightly smaller with a 6-inch 720p display with a 1.5GHz quad core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB internal storage with microSD slot. It will also feature a 8MP rear camera, 2.1MP front facing camera, will have 4G LTE and a 2800mAh battery.

The device will be running Android KitKat 4.4 out of the box and will include Samsungs Ultra Power Saving Mode which launched earlier this year. The phone is available in cosmic black or blizzard white and is expected to be around $350 – $400 USD which will probably equate to between $500 – $600 AUD if it makes it to retail here.

With larger 5.5 to 6-inch phones becoming more and more popular both here and overseas, it would be nice to see some more competition which may result in a reduction in the Australia tax.

Anyone interested in the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2? Or are you waiting to see what other phabets get released soon?
